Slimming World

Slimming World is the UK's leading independent weight loss organisation. Since Margaret Miles-Bramwell started offering support her home in Nottinghamshire in 1969, the private company has grown to 16,000 groups in almost every community across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland supporting families and communities to adopt healthier lifestyles. In 1998 the company began publishing Slimming World magazine and the title is now the best selling magazine in the women's health and lifestyle sector. Slimming World pioneered referral services when it began working with the NHS in Derbyshire in 2001 and now works with more than 80 health trusts and local authorities. Slimming World employs a team of research experts to study the causes of, and solutions to, obesity and conducts extensive research into the physical and psychological factors for successful long term weight management. The organisation's success is based on a deep understanding of the emotional as well as physical burden borne by those who struggle with their weight and how best to deliver effective support.
